Vertical Reflex Therapy

This is Reflexology done in a standing position , working the top of the foot rather than the sole , as in conventional Reflexology.

Since the foot is weight-bearing in this position , it seems to greatly increase the effect of the treatment and considerable improvements in conditions achieved with a 5-minute treatment.

Reflexology and Infertility

There is growing anecdotal evidence that Reflexology is effective in aiding conception in couples with fertility problems and this is the subject of current research at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
150 women have been taking part in a programme comparing pregnancy rates in groups receiving Reflexology compared with treatment with the standard fertility drug , clomifene.

Reflexology in
Pregnancy and Childbirth

Reflexology is generally not advised during the first trimester ( 3 months ) of pregnancy but after that can be very beneficial in the management of morning sickness, constipation , stiff joints , headaches , insomnia and fatigue.

It has also been found effective in helping to induce an overdue labour.

According to studies in England , regular Reflexology treatments from mid pregnancy onward seemed to lead to shorter , easier labours . Another study at the Gentofte Hospital in Copenhagan which supported these findings also found that Reflexology gave "outstanding pain relief ".
