Reflexology

The idea that health can benefit from pressure applied to the feet is very ancient - a picture of such a treatment found in the tomb of Ankhmahor in Egypt is thought to date from around 2330 BC.

During the last 50 years , work has been done in America and Britain to produce maps which relate reflex areas in the foot to every organ and system in the body and which form the basis of modern Reflexology .In this way , a Reflexology treatment is literally a massage of the whole body - inside and out !

Reflexology has been found to be effective in treating many disorders from migraines and poor sleep , to PMT and menopausal symptoms, lowered immunity and frequent infections ,digestive problems , general malaise and poor vitality .

Also , since there are said to up to 7000 nerve endings in each foot , the treatment has a profoundly soothing effect on the entire nervous system and some say it is the most relaxing therapy of all

Most commonly asked question ..............."does it tickle ?'
Answer "NO!!"

Before treatment starts your therapist will wipe your feet to clean them and gently explore to make a record of the condition of the skin and general flexibility of the feet . These processes may tickle a little but the massage itself is quite firm and should pose no problems for even the most ticklish person. It is almost as if the therapy is so soothing to the nervous system that the "tickle" reflex very quickly gets switched off.

A client comments ..........

"Being a sufferer of anxiety and other related problems I am thrilled at having discovered Shiatsu and Reflexology! A combination of the two treatments has helped tremendously in taming persistent headaches and muscle tension. I am also a lot calmer, emotionally stronger and feel much more in control of my life, not to mention having some of the best night's sleep in a long time! I highly recommend them both!"
